For Tuesday…

Hey Snappers:

Just a reminder to bring 6, finished, prints of the landscape oeuvre made on physical paper that has had ink squirted on it by piezo-controlled ink cartridges by 3pm EST!

Any technical hang-ups?  I’ll be free from 10:45a to 1:00pm.  Email me and I’ll come help!

Week 5 Planning / Update

0. All late work. Please. Post by Tomorrow at midnight…or

1. Portrait crit on Tuesday: 2 pictures of 3 different people = 6 prints. Response to ‘Criticism’ due as well!

Jon has paper but is not in tomorrow. You can even use plain paper in the inkjet. Just be sure to set the settings for plain paper and choose a matte paper color profile. I will be free from 10:45 to 2:45 on Tuesday for helping out.

But, ahem, by now…please just purchase your own lustre paper: Walgreens, Snap Shop, B&H, Staples, bookstore? If ink runs out on printers. Call ITS.

Emily said that she’s going on a paper run…and would be glad to purchase some for you.

2. Preparation for rest of week?

Landscape crit on Thursday. 6 prints!

Itinerary for week 4

We have two digital cameras, which we will share until we receive the balance on either Tuesday or Thursday.  Kate and Chelsea kindly met up with me on Sunday to pick up two the cameras.  Please check the ‘groups’ below.  Please coordinate to hand them off so you can start working on your portrait assignments digitally.  As you hand off the cameras, you must sign the letter of agreement stating that you’re responsible for the camera on my door.

Group A:  Bryan, Kate, Z and Laura
Group B:  Clara, Chelsea and Enana

If you still want to shoot film during this transitional period (working towards your portrait assignment) feel free—I understand the difficulty of sharing equipment.

For Tuesday:

I will be available to you from 10:45 a to 3:45 p in the labs or in my office to help you with any technical difficulties you may encounter while finishing your scanning/printing exercise.

What’s due?: Please choose one (1) color negative to scan and print on the color inkjet paper that the school has provided for you.

note: please make more than one version of the file as your refine color, tone, spotting, etc.  Please make the image at least 7″ wide on the piece of paper.  Please bring in all ‘progress prints’ as that will help our discussion.

Again, please let me know if you have ANY difficulties in scanning or making these prints.  I will get back to you ASAP.

What are we doing?

Tuesday: first we are looking at the prints.  Then we are discussing landscape and looking a brief history of the genre. After class, we will hand in our files using dropbox or email but the physical prints should be turned in as per our syllabus: in a folder with your name and assignment on it.

Thursday: We will go over the controls of the digital cameras.  We will look at any images that you have so far and I’ll go over opening, adjusting and printing digital files.  I will also show you the class Flickr feed where you will post your Picture of the Day (POD).  We will brief on our field trip!

Please let me know if anyone has any questions,

David
